It seems as if the demand for nail lacquer and at-home manicure products might be here to stay.

Inspired by the nail art trend, the Oxygen network has green-lighted a new reality competition show – Nailed It!

Top manicurists will compete for cash prizes – as well as the title, ultimate nail artist.

A note to beauty execs – it is rumored that the show will feature some outrageous, 3-D designs for nails. Perhaps these will inspire a few new product ideas?

There has already been one manicurist featured on a reality show about nails, which premiered in 2011 and aired for two seasons – Nail Files, starring Katie Cazorla, owner of The Painted Nail, a salon in Los Angeles.

Perhaps shows like these are paving the way – and now we can expect to see even more beauty-themed television shows in the future, which will no doubt be good news for beauty brands .
